| Vivace Uniform and Concert Dress Code Congratulations, singers! You have worked hard to make your singing the best it can be. The appearance you present to the audience must also be the best it can be to enhance their enjoyment of your program. More importantly, when you look good as a group, you feel confident and can concentrate on giving a beautiful recital! The Prep/Intermediate uniform includes: Vivace T-shirt (purchase from the uniform representative) Black leggings or pants (girls) Black pants (boys) Black shoes Opaque, solid black socks (required!) Optional - Black turtleneck (to wear under the T-shirt, for cold days) Black means all BLACK! Please do not substitute dark green, or navy, or wear shoes or socks with patterns, decorations, visible metal buckles, or shininess. Most deep black solid color pants are acceptable. Unfaded Dockers are a particularly good choice for boys and leggings for girls. However, they must be conservative, unfaded pants, with no bell-bottoms, or excessive bagginess (too casual); and they must be full length but not drag on the ground. Black jeans will not be accepted for girls or boys. Target and Mervyns are good sources for many uniform items. Hair must be clean and combed or brushed neatly away from the face. A Vivace girls’ hair ornament is available for purchase from the uniform representative. This is a special decorated clip that complements the Vivace logo. While purchase of this hair ornament is optional, no other hair ornament may be worn, except bobby pins or a thin hair elastic in the same color as the girl’s hair. The Concert and Chamber Choir uniform includes: Black Dress (available through Vivace); see details below. Vest (Boys, provided by Vivace); see details below. Vivace T-shirt (for informal appearances and workshops) The dress is floor length with short sleeves and a tie in the back. Upon arrival from the dressmaker, each dress will need to be hemmed to two inches off the floor. We recommend taking the dress to a seamstress to be hemmed, as this fabric is difficult to work with. At the beginning of the semester each new singer will be measured for proper sizing. As of January 2005 the dresses cost $48.00. The price is subject to change. At this time, Vivace cannot sell used dresses but, we encourage families to recycle the dresses to new singers as they are outgrown. To complete the ensemble the girls will need to have nude hose with black low heeled or flat dress shoes. The girls may wear a single strand of collarbone length pearls, a single pair of small earrings, and those that wear makeup may wear a light amount of makeup in subtle shades. We ask that they wear their hair off their faces and any hair ornaments be unobtrusive. Also, we would like for the girls to not wear perfume, brightly colored nail polish, body glitter, or any visible body piercing beyond the single set of earrings. The boys will be provided with a custom made vest at the performances. They will need to supply their own long sleeved black dress shirts, black pants, belts, socks, and dress shoes. 2005 New T-Shirt Information- ALL CHOIRS There has been a slight change in the T-shirt design for the fall of 2005. New singers will buy the new design, and returning singers have the option of replacing last year’s shirt with the new one. Please check that last year’s shirt is still in good condition and continues to fit your child. Beginning in fall 2006, all singers will need to have the new shirt.
