Choral Program
Vivace Youth Chorus of San José welcomes both beginning and advanced singers.
We offer developmentally appropriate instruction for youth from 4 – 18 years.
All singers wishing to join a chorus above the Preparatory level receive an individual assessment with one of our choral directors. No preparation is needed for this relaxed and friendly session. However singers interested in auditioning for the Teen Ensemble are encouraged to bring a prepared song. Please contact the office to make an appointment.
To gain the full benefit of participating in a sequential learning experience, choristers are encouraged to commit to an entire year (September – June). However, singers may also join at the start of the second semester, or at the discretion of the artistic director. Scholarships and family discounts exist to keep the program accessible to families of all means. We look forward to having you join our Vivace Youth Chorus community.
Class Schedule
Rising Notes - a non-performing choir designed for children ages 4-5
Rising Notes classes are in 12-week sessions and are offered three times per year; Fall, Winter, and Spring. Rising Notes East meets Tuesdays, from 5:30p-6:15p at Foothill Presbyterian Church and Rising Notes West meets on Thursdays from 2:30p-3:15p at Stone Church of Willow Glen. Click for more on the

Preparatory A (Beginners) – the beginning level of performing choirs for
lower-elementary students
Mondays 4:00-5:00 p.m. and
Tuesdays, 4:15-5:15 p.m.
Intermediate A (Beginners) – the mid-level choir for mid and upper-elementary students
Tuesdays 5:30-6:45 p.m. and
Wednesdays 4:00-5:15 p.m.
Concert Choir – a high-level choir for upper-elementary and middle school students
Thursdays 4:00-5:30 p.m.
Chamber Choir – a select group of advanced members of the Concert Choir
Thursdays 4:30-6:00 p.m.
Mondays (once a month, first Monday of the month 5:30-7:00 p.m. see calendar)
Teen Choirs – women’s and men's ensembles for high school students
Thursdays 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Rehearsals on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday are held at Stone Church, 1937 Lincoln Avenue, San José, 95125. The church is located at the corner of Clark Way and Lincoln Avenue in Willow Glen. Click for map.
